Detox

detox 2019

When you hear the word detox, you probably think of going on a liquid diet or something that tends to make you feel weaker or have less energy. A detox should be about “clean” eating. A detox or purification, can help you remove natural toxins from your body and help maintain a healthy weight.

We are exposed to external toxins on a daily basis, that includes pollutants, pesticides, and chemicals. Internally our bodies produce waste byproducts as a result of normal metabolic function. Although your body is designed to rid itself of these toxins naturally, it can become overburdened. Purification offers your body additional support to expel and metabolize these toxins and manage weight, which is important to maintaining your health and vitality.

Toxins can contribute to a wide range of conditions:

  • Stuffy Head
  • Fatigue or difficulty sleeping
  • Indigestion and other temporary gastrointestinal upset
  • Food cravings and weight gain
  • Reduced mental clarity
  • Low libido
  • Skin that’s not looking its best
  • Joint discomfort

How do your organs assist you in your purification? With help from the following organs, your toxic load can decrease, and your body can concentrate its energy on purification. Your liver helps to filter toxins, aids the body in metabolizing fat, protein, and carbohydrates, and helps transform many toxins into harmless agents. Your kidneys help filter waste and excess fluid from the blood, and regulate and release the right balance of sodium, phosphorus, and potassium for the body to function properly. Your small intestine helps digest food so that nutrients can be absorbed into the blood and transported to the liver, and provides a barrier that blocks toxins from the rest of the body. Your large intestine helps absorbs water and electrolytes, forming waste that is excreted from the body, it helps produce antibodies for gastrointestinal health, and contains bacteria that create fatty acids and some vitamins for extra nutritional support.

Standard Process offers an amazing purification program for you to follow. They have a 21-day Purification program that includes eating whole, organic, and unprocessed foods; taking supplements with whole foods and other ingredients; and drinking plenty of water. You will eat a variety of vegetables and fruit for the first 10 days, with select proteins added on day 11.

I recommend this program over others because this program puts a patient on a path for a lifetime. The biggest contributors to stressing our detoxification system is the food we put in our mouths. To be able to learn about the foods that contribute to this and finding the foods that help is a great lesson to learn. A lesson that you can use for a lifetime that can make you healthy and feeling good is priceless.

The basic key to detoxification is to eat real foods. Real foods include eating meats from animals, vegetables, and fruit. You can eat it any way you want from there. It is true that there are so many ways that toxins such as pesticides, herbicides, hormones, pollution run-off and bad mojo in these foods-so do the best you can. Obviously, the cleaner the better.

The second key is drink filtered water. Yes- there are all kinds of ways that filtered water is not 100% clean, but you just have to drink water. It does not have to be your only drink, just drink it.

From there learn how the foods and herbs you eat aid in detoxification. Most, if not all,  of the nutrients that your liver needs to detoxify us are from vegetables. If you want to know more about which foods help detox your body, I have included a couple websites below.
