    Chiropractor

I was a member of my high school wrestling team when I began to suffer from terrible low back pain. After two months of pain and difficulty standing up straight, I was referred to a Chiropractor. The Chiropractor did an initial exam and found that I had some abnormal spinal curves and diagnosed me with scoliosis. I have to admit that I was skeptical at first, but after seeing him a few times I started feeling better. I continued treatment after the pain was long gone to correct the curvatures and noticed that over time I became a better wrestler and student. This is how I initially became interested in chiropractic care. When I was ready to graduate from Georgia State University, I decided I wanted to help others and run my own business. This is when I realized that Chiropractic was my true choice. From there I went on to get my Chiropractic degree from Portland’s University of Western States.

    Applied Kinesiologist

While completing my chiropractic internship, I was introduced to Applied Kinesiology (AK) at the clinic of Dr. Gary Domby. He examined a patient suffering from what is called, “Frozen Shoulder”. “Frozen Shoulder” is a painful and stiff shoulder that literally keeps the arm “frozen” to the patient’s side. I was taught in school that this condition could take months to heal and is considered a difficult syndrome to resolve. After watching Dr. Domby diagnose the patient through muscle testing, and provide appropriate treatment, the patient had full range of motion in the shoulder with just one visit. This made such an impression on me that I was then resolved to learn all I could about AK and worked very hard for years to do so. After eight years of studying, I became a Diplomate in AK, which is the highest degree offered by the International College of Applied Kinesiology.

Using AK to diagnose and treat my patients has taught me many things. It has taught me that “anything can cause anything.” AK has helped to build my understanding of nutrition and physiology and, more importantly, makes it possible to implement treatment more effectively.

    Nutrition Counselor

In 2014 I received my Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine and was asked to become an instructor in the program. This honor has allowed me to continue to learn and to become a better doctor and teacher to my wonderful patients.

    Adjunct Faculty Member

Learning more allows me to be an Adjunct Faculty member of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and the University of Western States and to teach manual manipulation to both students and doctors of chiropractic and naturopathic medicine. In addition, I’m often invited to lecture to the public on a variety of topics including chiropractic, nutrition, neurology, endocrinology and homeopathy.

    Massage Therapist

I graduated from nationally recognized East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon in 2011 with training in myofascial, deep tissue, cranial sacral and spa techniques.

Certified in Contemporary Cupping Methods by the International Cupping Therapy Association in 2013

Certified in Hydrostone Techniques using both Hot basalt stones and Cold marble stones.

Advanced Training in Myofascial techniques, including whiplash.

I believe in working as a team with you to reach your treatment goals.  For some the goal is to simply relax, for others to recover from an injury and for yet others to get to the root of and resolve multiple sources of pain.  I employ a variety of modalities and tools to effectively address your body’s issues.  No one massage is the same, as my hands sense what your tissues need during that session.  Intuition and training shapes each treatment plan.

What began as a means to both earn money and continue to be present for my children, has become a calling.  As a massage therapist, I am challenged daily to solve the puzzles of my clients’ aches and pains, encouraged as each progresses over the course of their therapy.  My career is not just a means to an end, a way to pay the bills, but a journey filled with amazing people I have the privilege of walking alongside in their healing journey.

When not in clinic, I enjoy a variety of adventures, which may include camping, tide pooling, motorcycling, traveling or all the above. When at home I enjoy gardening, photography and charging my solar batteries, if the sun comes out.
